I have 3 yellow belly sliders. One I've for a little under a year and I think it's dying or preggers?

I have 3 turtles. Two are new. The oldest female has not taken two well to the other two. It has been very anti-social. And as of last week it beached itself up on a rock and has not moved since. The shell has a whitish ash on it and it notice the same on the rock. What could this be? I would love to take it to the vet but I just lost my job and cannot afford it. I want to do the right thing, what should I do?

Mark gave you a good answer. Turtles aren't social creatures by nature so it's not surprising that it didn't take well to the new commers. They are also usually fairly dominant but yours seems to be rather recessive and is dealing with the new turtles in a self-destructive way. I'd separate the new ones from the older one, not only because it will make the old one happy but because the shell rot can spread to the other turtles (if it hasn't already) and it can be leathal. If your turtle is only 2 years old there's no way it's pregant. They don't become sexually mature until they are 4-5 years old.
Reply:it is shell rot, here is what you do, first scrub the turtles shell to get the white stuff off, then put the turtle in a dry box where it will live for the next week or two, while it is out of the tank thoroughly clean it including scrubbing the rocks, corners etc. Then put hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) on the turtles shell, let it bubble for a few minutes, then rinse the turtle of, then put provodine-iodine solution on its shell, do not rinse this off untill the next day when it is ready for more peroxide. Just becarefull not to get any in the turtles eyes, after a week of two of this you turtle will be fine. Oh yeah you can let the turtle swim in clean water (not its tank) for about half an hour each day, otherwise keep it dry shell rot needs ater to grow and spread so keeping dry kills it. You can get the medicins at walmart, good luck
Reply:The white spot is shell rot, a common fungus. Here's how to deal with it.

Allow the turtle to dry.

Gently scrape the white fungus off with a butter knife.

Apply neosporin ointment.

Keep the turtle dry overnight.

Repeat once a week until the fungus is gone.

Add novaqua (available in pet stores) to the water as a preventative measure.
