I recently bought two yellow belied sliders?
To be happy, Yellow-bellies, like their cousins, the Red-ear sldier, have certain needs:
- Big tank to swim and 'frolic' in
- Water heated to 75-80F
- Water well filtered (try a filter 2 or 3 times bigger than the tank would need for fish)
- Good basking sites, heated to about 90F
- Ultraviolet B lighting (UVB), which is annoying but important to good health
- A good, varied diet. Try a mix of about 1/2 good pellets, and the rest krill, shrimp, bugs, worms, etc.
Of all of these, the thing that affects appetite the most is water temp.
Reply:Don't worry they will eat when there hungry.
Reply:try earthworms and other live food
