please answer quick or else they will die and i dont wnat them to die.
Can red ear sliders survive in tap water ?
Yes they will be fine. I dechlorinate my water because I have fish too, but I know others who do not.
Reply:Yes but you need to be careful I had 2 not long ago and one died and the other got a pretty bad case of ammonia Bern from the waist in the water... I clean the 10 gallon tank 1 a week and it did not help i finally did what the pet store told me to do and let it go into a little pond that is full of them!
Reply:Are you worried about chlorine content? I have two aquatic turtles; they do fine in our chlorine-free tap water, although some say chlorine is beneficial. Ultimately I think it's up to you. To dechlorinate your water, let it stand in an open container for 24 hours.
Reply:Don't put them in tapwater....Once I caught a bunch of tadpoles and they died in the stuff.
Reply:yea, but get some chemical stuff to lower chlorine level
Reply:yes but you should get some stuff from the petstore to clean it because tap water has cholrine in it. They wont die but if you dont treat the water they might get sick
Reply:Im oretty sure they can bcuz i had 2 when i was younger ann thats what i filled the tank with.
Reply:yes they live in tap water i have well water plus city water i use the well water because there is no chemicals in it
Reply:NO USE A REPTI-SAFE TAP COND.. ALWAYS.
Reply:yes, depending on your tap water. In my area its safe to drink and levels are ok. If you do use a dechlorinating additive, it helps, but the tank gets dirty a lot quicker.
