What are sliders/pucks and what are their functions?

Sliders are named after their job. When a bike goes down the sliders are sticking out farther than anything else on the side of the bike to give some space between the crucial more expensive stuff on the bikeand the ground

well worth the money,have them on my 999r ducati that i use for track days,haven't had to use them yet. but did on my 748 save me from a lot of damage.
