i know most red eared sliders are both on land and water, so do they follow like most reptiles and useuric acid most of the time, or do they use urea or ammonia since they do live in water someimtes??/ if they only use uric acid, why is that helpful to them?
Do red eared sliders use uric acid or urea or ammonia as source of nitrogenous waste?
Ammonia is excreted only by fishes, urea by amphibians and mammals, and uric acid by reptiles and birds. Uric acid is not necessarily more helpful than other nitrogenous wastes.but it works and is evolutionarily conservative.
