How do I clean the "slider tracks" on sliding glass windows and doors?

The tracks are very dirty with ash and grime from the wild fires here in San Diego. What is the best product and techinque to clean them? Windex/409 is not doing the job....

Brush the tracks out good with a soft brush. The spray WD-40 on the tracks, and gently wipe with a cloth.
Reply:I use plain dishwashing soap and water..use an old tooth brush for any stubborn stains.and if the dirt is real hard to get off I even use a dot or two of soft scrub with water then use papertowels to dry the tracks.... There ya go..8-)

God Bless to all of you in San Diego and other fire areas....I have a brother and his family who were evacuated there in San Diego horses and kitty and all..They were one of the blessed ones and their home was spared.....
Reply:Keep your wet vac handy, Get a bucket with a good cleaner and a scrub brush that is sized appropriate for the tracks. Remove the windows and doors and scrub the tracks until clean... vac them dry and retreat if necessary. Don't be afraid to slop them up heavy and bear down on the brush.
Reply:Try Magic erasers. They are good for everything from scuffs marks to permanent markers. Then use your windex for a good shine. Just be sure to keep the things away from kids because the cleaning chemicals can cause serious burns if a kid tries to erase something off themselves. Mr. Clean, ?Clorox? and generic brands make these. They are found in the mop, broom, etc. aisles of your local walmart.. and are very reasonably priced.

and you can use them on anything from tubs, to stoves, to glass to wood., just remember that they will take the finish of the woods..
Reply:srewdriver, flat tip and a wet dry vacume
