What are the small red dots on my linoleum by the slider door?

I have these strange red dots on my linoleum formed around where a mat used to be in front of the slider door. I don't think they are mold or water damage. What could they be?

lots of times in vinyl flooring if the plywood isn't correctly prepared things like this can happen........most likely what your seeing is something like a nail head that have rusted and they are"bleeding through" the vinyl, causing a discoloration.......if that is the case nothing will get the red dots up and the only way to fix it is to take the old up and probably put a skim coat down on the plywood.....
Reply:Vinyl floors are very susceptible to water staining. The staining can be red, orange, or purple. If there was a mat over the affected area this is probably the case. Try a little bleach diluted in water and let it sit. If you have to repeat mix the bleach/ water stronger. Hopefully this will help. If not put the mat back over it.
Reply:If the cat used to be there then there is a good chance that your pet may be injured and the red dots are actually drips of blood. The same thing happened to me once except it was a wooden floor in my kitchen. I replaced my cat and this fixed the problem.
