That "bubble nest" is just protein frothing at the surface and means you should change the water. Red-eared slide mating rituals are very easy to spot . They involve the male going nose to nose with the female and waving/vibrating his claws along the sides of her face. He will then mount her and they copulate. Unless your turtles are at least 3.5-4" (for the male) and 5-6" for the female they are probably still sexually immature.

The eggs look very similar to birds eggs, whitish/yellowish/greyish color and oval in shape. The female will lay the eggs in a pit she will dig in soil or sand which you will have to provide in order to have them survive.
Reply:Their eggs look like a chicken egg sort of-they are usually larger and white and oval shaped.

Female turtles will lay eggs regardless if there is a male-they just won't be fertilized.

You will need to set up a 30-50 gallon rubbermaid container with dirt/sand. Heat it with a light fixture and place the turtle in there alone for a while every day. Signs of being gravid include restlessness, scratching the side of the tank, and sometimes a big appetite.

You can also take your turtle for a walk to get her to lay eggs as egg retention is dangerous. Each time your turtle lays eggs it is called a clutch-expect 15-20 eggs per clutch or more. Never keep the eggs, you can't sell them since you are not a licensed breeder and RES are over populating eco systems.

This link will help you determine the sex of your turtle-you cannot tell until they are 4" big. Males have longer claws/nails and a thicker/longer tail http://www.redearslider.com/determining_...

What you are seeing is definetly not an egg, however.

Here is a good link on reproduction if you still have questions http://www.redearslider.com/reproduction...

That site is also a forum and you can join and ask questions as well-very informational (I'm a member-it's free).

Good luck.
