Do red ear sliders grow?

i have one and it just doesnt grow

Do red ear sliders grow?
yes they do..i remember when my brother bought me on..i was like 10 or 9 n it was the size of a quarter n now im 14 n its bigger than my hand...yea but i love her...it just takes time for them to row..o n i changed the cage 3 times! n i think im gonna change it again cuz its getting pretty big!!!
Reply:Well yes they do grow and they grow the size of the tank it is in. So if the tank is small and you don't have the proper heating lamp then they are not going to grow and soon they will die. So if you don't have a heating lamp and a big enough environment then your turtle will not grow and they do get up to 7 inches long....
Reply:I have 2 that I have had for 33 yrs and they started out in a 20 gal top a 60 and now a pond. They are 11 1/2 long. I have always feed them goldfish and live yard worms after it rains, lettuce, dried tubiflex worms. If he doesn't eat meat and only ceral he won't grow just like a kid he will be malnutritioned.

I had these turtles also about 48 yrs ago and the always died. We put them in lil plastic bowls with maybe a half inch of water and feed them some sort of hollow dried nothings...no wonder why they died...we starved them.. gosh I feel bad right now typing that...

U have to have a large area for him to grow. Live goldfish for them to catch in the water which gets them exercise.

Before my pond I used a kiddy pool make sure it has enough water to cover thier shell as for a brick or rock to get out on to dry out thier shell.

If you can put him in the yard during the day (make sure he safe from birds and dogs and cats..and kids! Put half the pond in the shade and get the feeder goldfish ...he'll grow. He could be a runt. My son got one like that and its the size of a 50 cent piece.

I have 4 now and have willed them to my son.

Also the male sliders have longgggggggg toe nails.
Reply:They get to be 9-12 inches full grown. They need plenty of room, atleast 10 gallons per inch of shell. they need heat and UVB lighting. They need a good diet of pellets, vegtables and occational treats like feeder guppies or rosey red minnows (not goldfish, they are too fatty and cary parasites)

If he is being cared for correctly and still does not grow, get him checked for parasites by a vet.
