Whats the diffrence between Red Ear Sliders and Yellow Ear sliders.?

Does any one know the diffrence and were I can buy one. Perferably in Mass.

Whats the diffrence between Red Ear Sliders and Yellow Ear sliders.?
They are closely related- both are sliders. The Red-ear is actually a sub-species of the Yellow-Belly Slider (not 'yellow-ear'). Their cares are almost identical.

Try http://www.redearslider.com or http://www.austinsturtlepage.com for more care info.
Reply:they are both a type of pond turtle and thier body shape, size, and thier behavoirs are nearly identical, the RES usually has more green, and the YES has more black, the RES has a orange/red stripe on his head and thin yellow lines on its carapace (back of shell), the YES has a yellow bloth on its head and thick yellow bands on its carapace. RES are sold at practically every pet store, but YES can be very difficult to find.
Reply:The difference is observational.... one has a red stripe on the side of the head and the other has a yellow stripe. Red eared turtles are sold almost everywhere (even the illegal ones that are under 4 inches in the shell) ... the yellow eared turtles, you will have to hunt for a seller...

Is it possible to recegnize a red eared slider turtles age?

I have bought 3 baby red eared at the same time, but one of them is smaller than the other tow sliders. and the other 2 are not grown same, one of them is even biger.

Is it possible to recegnize a red eared slider turtles age?
Great question. I bought 3 red-ears just like you 3 months ago, and have experienced similar growth variances. I suspect that their dispositions play a role in their growth. For example, I've noticed the larger one stays at the surface when I feed them, the little one gets scared and stays at the bottom for a while, and the middle-sized one's behavior is well. . . in the middle. So while the other two are busy "hiding," the bigger one has a headstart on eating. I'm not sure as to the sex of my 3 turtles yet, but I suspect that may play a role as well.
Reply:they all grow at different rates. But if you notice that one of them is way smaller than the others and seems like it isn't growing much at all, then you should have it checked for parasites because this can stunt its growth.

Or if you see that one of them is eating up all the food and the other ones don't get to eat then try taking them out one by one and feeding in a separate container.
Reply:I have a girl and a boy and they are baby red ear slider turtles too. The smaller the tank the last growth they will have that is what a landy tolded me when i buy my first baby girl turtle, i order two more baby turtle one was girl ant the other was a boy before they got to my house i got a 10 gallon tank and that gave them more room to swim and get bigger ever day but my second girl turtle died so now i have just two so make sure the tank is 10 gallons or more so that they have lost of room to grow and swim and play ever day i hope that this helps and p.s. i have had my girl for about 6months and i had the boy for about 4or 5 month now.

Does yellow bellied sliders mate and lay eggs under water and do the survive in a aqurium?

i have three baby sliders.

yes they can live in an aquarium...but it has to be HUGE!

in the aquarium they need;

-a land rock (to dry their shells out with...if not they can die of soft shell)

-a light with a repto bulb above the rock (for 'sun' bathing)

-a filter

-gravel

-and ---IF NEEDED--- a heater

------------------------------

yes, they will mate, but not until they are 2-4 years old. as that is when they reach sexual maturity.

after they mate the female will bury down in the ground and lay her eggs.

-------------------------------

if you are planning on getting one, i will worn you now; THE STINK IF THE CAGE IS NOT CLEANED OFTEN!

good luck

Does yellow bellied sliders mate and lay eggs under water and do the survive in a aqurium?
NO!!!!!
Reply:They mate in the water, but have to lay eggs in a nest on the land. If the eggs are laid in the water, they will be infertile.

Check out http://www.austnsturtlepage.com for more.
Reply:If you want your Sliders to breed, make sure you have solid ground for them :)

Females dig in the ground to deposit eggs; egg amount depends on the size of the mother. It takes three months for eggs to hatch.

I'm not sure how actually breeding works, but if the male and female are compatible, I'm sure they will...
Reply:they have to have land in order to build a nest for their eggs, they dont lay their eggs in the water (if they do they won't hatch)

How many volume sliders are on a hard drive for head phones?

A hard drive doesn't have headphones jacks or any volume sliders. A hard drive has a power connector and a data cable, that's all.

Please rephrase your question, because the way it is, it doesn't make any sense!

Red Ear Sliders???? WHAT??I have to know...???Turtles?

Red Ear Sliders???? WHAT??I have to know...???Turtles?
The water should be kept between 68-80 degrees at all times. It will fluctuate but shouldn't get warmer or colder. A submersible fish tank heater placed horizontally in the water will keep your water at a constant temperature. You'll need both a UVA and UVB light for them. This means a basking light and a strip light. The strip light can be placed over the water and the basking light over a dry area. The tank needs to have an area that is out of the water so the turtles can bask in the "sun". The lights are necessary to help them grow, without them they will have vitamin deficiencies and their shells will not be able to grow properly. Everything you need can be found in the fish and reptile section of any pet store. Your tank will also need a filter. Turtles are very dirty and a filter will cut down on how often your water needs to be changed and your tank needs to be cleaned. Before you get a slider, you really need to know what you're getting yourself into. These turtles get large, require a lot of care and time, and live for decades. But they are great pets. I would recommend doing a lot of research before purchasing a turtle. This site has a lot of good information http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?...
Reply:Keep the water clean and add Reptisafe. Keep it warm with a heater from the pet store. They come in different sizes to correspond with the tank size but I would just spring for the large one now. Get a uva/uvb basking lamp at the pet store. they make one now that will not shatter if water hits the bulb. Get a sunlight bulb for the top of the aquarium (the ones that come with it for fish are not the same) and alternate between the two everyday. You get these at the pet store too.
Reply:water should be 75-82 degrees

basking should be 86-90 degrees

usually in spring and summer i have mine outside in the sun so i dont have to waist energy in the house and when i go out i just leave them with some shade. they love it outside but makesure theres no cats or dogs or animals that can get them

Some real or fake plants give a nice look to the tank.

the turtles will go behind or under the plants.

Need to change water often

Varied dite, give live crickets once a week

Two of my red eared sliders are preg. what should i do? Please help!?

Can you provide them with a container of soft soil (such as potting soil) to lay their eggs in? If you want viable eggs, you have to keep them from laying eggs in the water. Also, within the first day after the eggs are laid, it is imperative that the egg be kept in the same position that it was.If you must handle it, you might want to mark it with a felt-tipped marker so that you don't turn the egg and crush the embryo.

If you get the eggs laid on land but not buried, put some damp (not wet) cotton in a plastic bag, put the eggs on the cotton, and seal the bag. Leave it on top of the refrigerator (the place in the house that has the most stable temperatures) and be very patient. It can take 3 months for the eggs to hatch.

if you are not sure if your turtles have eggs inside or no then take them to a qualified vet and get them x-rayed to see if there are any developing eggs, if there are them you need to do your research on incubating them or get in touch with someone who can do it for you, you need to know if they do have eggs, as if they do not it could be a problem with the turtles, if in doubt get it checked out. best of luck honey
Reply:paint the room a yellow colour.. its very neutral lol.. and hope the father doesnt run off without paying child support
Reply:arent those turtles? They lay eggs.

Hope that really helps dumbby
Reply:uhm... so... how do you know this?

if they have a clutch of fertilized eggs, you will need to provide a nesting place for them. for info, goto turtletimes.org.

How long do red eared sliders live for?

In the wild, an estimated 10-30 years.

In captivity, the oldest well-documented zoo RES was just under 23 years old, but many keepers make good claims for up to 40 years.

For most new keepers, the average lifespan is about 6 to 18 months. Poor care programs and diet do not allow most of them to thrive as they should.
