Do red eared sliders hibernate?

Do red eared sliders hibernate?
yes they do!
Reply:yes....but you need to get the heater and the lighting + a dry dock or it will die.
Reply:Anyone want to clue in "girl" that red eared sliders are turtles, not snakes. And also, not ALL snakes hibernate. There are some areas of the world that stay warm all year long!!
Reply:Yes, Sliders do hibernate, but the temps must be down to the 40's to induce this -turtles kept indoors must have a full specturm light for Vitamin D production. Their shells will soften and they will get sick without access to sunlight or UV light .It also keeps them warm. My red ears are kept at room (68-70)temperature (with light for basking) and they are are active and vigorous. Yes, Sliders do hibernate, but the temps must be down to the 40's to induce this.
Reply:All snakes hybernate
