What do black spots on a red eared sliders shell mean?

Are the spots raised or do they have any odor to them? If either, then you should get the turtle to the vet. Make sure you don't have the basking lamp too close to the turtles shell, as they can get burned, which would also leave a black mark.

What do black spots on a red eared sliders shell mean?
On the shell? I'm not sure I'm thinking nothing you should research it on google I have 2 of them but I have never seen that on my turtles
