Great memories when a kid - dad worked late into the nite. Sometimes he'd come home at midnite or 1AM with a sack of 'em and wake my brother and I up to have some "Deathburgers" with him and mom.





Only started calling them sliders when in high school with friends coming home from concerts really late and with just a little too much beer. :) Could have been either the burgers or the beer that gave them the name.

Reply:All I know is the first time I had them I was heading to the airport to get on a plane after visiting a friend in Chi town for a Bears game. Let's just say it wasn't pretty and I ended up having to move to the back of the plane near the commodes! Then and only then did I learn the meaning to White Castle's sliders! Not to worry I got my friend back when he came out to see me and I took him to Runza Hut!!!!
Reply:Guess what?!?!? Those Slyders are 80 years old. The company is not actually the meat that makes the burgers. The first White Castle opened in 1921 Wichita, Kansas.





Personally I like the Chicken Rings and I've never had a "gut buster" of problem eating them either. If you aren't used to greasy foods then you might encounter a "gut buster". Anything greasy will do that to you if you aren't used to it. (Personal experience)
Reply:You all are too funny --- I just visited a state where there are White Castle (food places) on every corner.and we didn't ever eat there, because I heard them refered to as both (sliders and gutbombs) ...

Reply:I've always called the place White Trashle but that is mainly because of how trashy the restauraunts are rather than the food.

Reply:That's a black eye for marketing. The White Castle Hamburger experience is tainted by the 'slidder' term. I always found it to be insulting, disrespectful %26amp; fully unfounded as such a cheap word to associate with one of the most unique, iconic 'happy days' realities of my adolesence. Of course, the frozen variety available in the Honolulu King St Foodland were never as good as the Chicago Stockyard Fresh variety out at Archer %26amp; Polaski! Ummm, WhiteCastle, gurgule..
