What is the natural habitat for Red-Earred Sliders (turtle)?

I have one that I' ld Like to release.

What is the natural habitat for Red-Earred Sliders (turtle)?
Red-eared sliders inhabit most freshwater systems such as lakes, streams, swamps, ponds and rivers. They prefer the quiet waters of marshes, sluggish rivers and ponds that have soft bottoms with numerous basking sites and an abundance of aquatic vegetation. They are faithful to home ranges, leaving only to search for mates, nest and hibernate. Even if the waterways in their home ranges begin to evaporate during the summer, the sliders remain. Only after the waterway is completely dry and conditions become unbearable, will they migrate to better areas.
Reply:Why on earth would you do that? If I dropped you into the middle of a rainforest, do you think you'd do ok?

If you really love the turtle, find a turtle rescue and give it a fighting chance. Try www.turtleforum.com for a suggestion of one close to you.
Reply:Well, they come from the warm south-eastern states, in ponds and marshes.

Even if you lived close to one, your turtle will no longer do well in the wild, and diseases it is carrying could easily decimate wild populations who will have little immunity.

Instead, see if anyone locally will take it- flyers at the pet shops, wildlife rescue, animal shelters, etc.
Reply:if your turtle is not from the wild dint let it go in the wild it will die
