How long do red eared sliders usually live in captivity?

Most can live up 45-60 years if cared for properly. However if proper care isn't given most won't survive 2 years. The best tips for a long lived red eared slider is to provide at least 12 to 8 hours a day of UVA bulbs, keep temp at around 75 degrees daily. If your red eared slider is under 3 years old never let them go into hibernation. This will cause them to starve to death since they don't have the proper fat to live off of. Hibernation is not required but some like to provide it. Also feeding at least 20% of the diet as live food (worms, beetles, ect.), and keep in a tank that's at least 30 gallons. I hope this helps.

20-40 years depending on care, of course there are always cases where some live longer than the norm.
Reply:about 55 years
Reply:i know a lady,she had one since 1968...
Reply:google it
Reply:They can live a very long time, 40+ years, but most, especially babies live only a few months because people do not know how to properly take care of them.
Reply:They pretty much live in an aquarium with several other turtles. But they can be kept as single pets. They are also very inactive if kept by themselves, but more active when near others.
