Why do White Castle sandwiches have the name "sliders"?

I know that now people say, "because they slide off the bun," but what was the original meaning?

Why do White Castle sandwiches have the name "sliders"?
originally known as sliders but trademarked as slyders it is the best food out there and those that ate 5 or more were known as slyder pilots
Reply:Because they give you the $h!ts
Reply:Because they "slide" right through you. That is what I have always heard.
Reply:they slide?
Reply:They are also called Gut Busters!
Reply:I hate to be gross, be we used to call them " rectal rockers" because of the gastric distress they would cause. I thought "sliders" was along the same school of thought. Just an opinion.
Reply:They are so greasy they slide down your throat and right out your butt.
Reply:They slide THROUGH your body to make a deposit in the toilet!
Reply:because they slide in and slide out.
Reply:True story, my stepdaughter ate at White Castles a few years ago before a road trip. An hour into the trip we found out why they call em' sliders. She couldn't hold it anymore and covered the back seat of her uncle's brand new Lincoln Towncar with the slimiest crap I've ever seen. Poor guy had to shampoo the seats three times to get the smell out.

Word to the wise, don't feed your children White Castles before a road trip:(
Reply:Because they are sooo slimey and gross they slide all over the wet bun.

White Castle is yuuuuuuckeee
Reply:Because they slide right through you with all the grease on them. They are just like Krystal that is in the south.
